Carols by Candlelight

Celebrate the magic of Christmas with song at the 2008 Vision Australia's Carols by Candlelight presented by Myer. This year the iconic event turns 71 and it is expected to be as vibrant and magical as ever. Held in the Sidney Myer Music Bowl, Melbourne on Wednesday 24 December, the night will feature an array of contemporary and traditional performers that is sure to delight and entertain the whole family. The Homeless World Cup

The Homeless World Cup is a world-class, annual international football tournament, uniting teams of people who are homeless and excluded from society to take a once in a lifetime opportunity to represent their country and change their lives forever. From 1-7 December 2008 Federation Square and Birrarung Marr will come alive with the grit, spirit and glory of the Melbourne 2008 Homeless World Cup, proudly hosted by The Big Issue. Over 500 players from 56 nations will come together with one goal - to end homelessness and change lives.

One and All Festival

Showcasing the talents and involvement of people with a disability in local communities across the south west region of Victoria. This is an annual event spanning a month and including a range of events and activities such as:
- One and All Inclusive Events awards night
- Auslan Library story times - various dates in libraries around the region
- Wild Westerlies Dance Party
- One and All Film Screenings

Club Wild's Taking It To The Streets!

A lunch time concert in celebration of International Day of Person's with a Disability. Join Club Wild in the City Square for great music and performances by Club Wild's artists, right in the middle of the city. Wednesday 3 December, 2008 only.

International Volunteer Day 2008

Celebrated world wide with thousands of volunteers involved in a range of IVD initiatives including clean-up campaigns, conferences, exhibitions, morning teas and many other activities all aimed to highlight the role of volunteers in their communities. Friday 5th December, 2008.

Melbourne Women's International Jazz Festival

Concerts by Jess Green (Bennetts Lane), Susie Ahern (Kingston Arts Centre) and tutors and students from the ever-growing Artplay project. The festival is a chance to celebrate Australia's female band leaders and composers in a remarkably diverse cross-section of styles and approaches. Thursday, December 7 to Sunday, December 17, 2008.

Summer Read: State Library of Victoria

The Summer Read 2008, a program launched by the State Library of Victoria's, celebrates the diversity of Victorian writing and encourages Victorians to enjoy some great books over summer. Using a reader-knows-best-policy, The Summer Read asks readers to vote for their favourite from a diverse list of 20 books of fiction, poetry, non-fiction, memoir, sports history and short stories, each set in Victoria or written by Victorians.
